 British Red Cross

Locations in Angel, Hackney, the Red Cross within London works to provide ‘practical and emotional’ support services for members to access. They also specialize in reuniting families and assisting with travel permits.

Community Centre of Refugees from Vietnam Laos and Cambodia

A community collective for refugees from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Includes Martial Arts, Tai Chi and computer learning classes- even enjoy some ballroom dance lessons or a football team. East London

Forest Farm Peace Garden

Celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary, Forest Farm Peace Garden aims to improve mental and physical health through gardening. Anyone can now join and volunteer, getting the chance to “grow food, socialize and learn a new skill.” Located in Northern London they have bee keeping, foraging, yoga and woodcarving!

Hackney Migrant Centre:

Hackney Migrant Centre is a charity that runs a weekly drop-in for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants. During the drop-in get free advice on immigration and housing and benefit problems. Access a health advocate that can help with access to NHS services and GP registration. Only open on Wednesdays 12:30- 3:30

Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants:

Provides english classes, community and meals – See our work with them here!

London Welcome Project:

A place for social activities and workshops. Members say you can socialise, relax, and learn.  Fix up a bike, play a board game, chat or have a hot lunch. Open on Sundays in Southwark. See our work with them here!

New North London Synagogue

A drop-in centre operating once a month in Finchley. Provides food, clothing and necessities like diapers to refugees and asylum seekers.

Notre Dame Refugee Centre:

Get advice on managing money, housing, and other support services. English language and literacy classes provided-  this group caters to French speakers, but all are welcome

Praxis Community Projects 

A great place to get an interpretor, access to support services like housing, and employment, they are an international organisation also located in Europe – Located in East London

St Pancras Refugee Centre:

At drop in sessions you can meet a specialist for advice on your rights, housing, community care, asylum support and immigration. Based in Kings Cross on Wednesday and Friday 12-3.

The Bike Project:

Always looking for new members this group seeks to provide cheap transport to refugees in the city by fixing up, and providing bikes to those who need them. Get a bike to access the city better, or help out and learn a new skill. Listen to our interview with them here.

Southwark Day Centres for Asylum Seekers (SDCAS)

Operating two different centres throughout the week the Centre offers a range of activities and services. Find a men’s group, which includes yoga and relaxation sessions, or a dance group for women with the Coleston Centre. The Crossway centre offers computer classes and english courses for everyone
